Drake’s run on the Billboard charts this year has been unseen in hip hop before. “God’s Plan” spent 11 consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 before “Nice For What” took its spot. Needless to say, it wasn’t much of a shock that Drake’s latest project, Scorpion debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. Now, it looks like Drake’s latest project will hold down the top position for a second week in a row.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Future’s latest project, BeastMode 2 will debut at the top of the Billboard 200 since experts predict Drake will be topping the chart for a second week in a row with Scorpion. According to industry forecasters, Scorpion is expected to earn 300K equivalent album units by July 12th. If this prediction is true, Drake will have the second largest week for an album since 2016’s Views which garnered 313K units on its second week. In addition, if Drake’s latest album does hold down the number one spot again, it will make it the fourth album of the year to log in multiple weeks at number one following Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys, Black Panther: The Album and The Greatest Showman soundtrack.
Aside from Drake, Future is likely going to nab the number three position on the Billboard 200 with an expected 60,000 album equivalent units moved its first week. Meek Mill’s four track EP Legends Of The Summer is expected to debut in the top 10.
