Fontaine forÂ Medium, where the writer is invited to Prince’s Paisley Park studios, Prince comments to his producer and assistant about how much he enjoys K.Dot’s latest album. “He just has something heÂ hasÂ to say,” said the superstar artist. “It’s pure. And with Thundercat on the album? Come on. You’re not taking ‘Alright’ off my playlist!”
The “Purple Rain” singer also said he is a big fan of Kanye West’s “Gold Digger,” “the way he made something new with that sample was perfect.” And Jill Scott’s “A Long Walk,” “every song on that first album was the truth.”Lamar and Prince do have history together. When Prince released two new album in September of 2014, he celebrated by doing a livestream concert withÂ Yahoo!Â and welcomed Kendrick to the stage. The TDE rapper performed “What’s My Name” from Prince’s 1998 albumÂ Crystal Ball. Rumors spread that the two got in the studio together to record but a song has not surfaced.
