Hugh Jackman is returning to Broadway in 2020 because the star of The Music Man, producer Scott Rudin introduced at the moment.

Jackman will play the position of Professor Harold Hill within the latest model of this Meredith Wilson traditional.  The villain was popularized by the late Robert Preston within the present’s unique Broadway run.

Jerry Zaks will direct the newest incarnation of The Music Man, with choreography from Warren Carlyle.  Performances will start in September 2020, and the official open set is slated for October 22, 2020.

Of course, Jackman isn’t any stranger to musicals.

He starred within the 2012 large display adaptation of Les Miserables and gained a Tony Award again in 2004 for The Boy From Oz.

No different casting roles have been introduced but, with producers confirming they are going to be introduced “quickly.”

Jackman says The Music Man holds a particular place in his coronary heart as the primary musical he was ever part of, approach again in 1983.

“I used to be at Knox Grammar School in Sydney, Australia. I used to be one of many touring salesmen, and I believe I can really (virtually) keep in mind that unforgettable opening quantity! That was most likely the second when the magic of theater was born in me.”

“The thought of bringing ‘The Music Man’ again to Broadway has been lurking behind my mind for a very long time, perhaps even for 35 years, and when Scott Rudin referred to as me with that very thought, I used to be floored. To lastly be doing this can be a large thrill.”

Producer Scott Rudin says he’s thrilled to be working with Jackman in what he considers to be “the perfect position ever written for an actor in all of Broadway musical theater.”

The Music Man initially debuted on Broadway on December 19th, 1957. The present went on to win 5 Tony Awards, together with Best Musical and ran for 1,375 performances.
